At last a voice to save the planet
Freja Eriksen's delightful debut cd introduces not only an original voice, but, more importantly, a new genre to the world's music. Generation Y has been heavily criticized for apathy in the face of today's natural disasters, global warming, rampant pollution, famine and war, and has badly needed an anthem around which to rally.
21-year-old Freja serves up a voice to express this generation's bewilderment, fear, hopes and yearnings for a planet where all are united and suffering is shared and understood. In 'The Spring' she asks 'what if the trees stop breathing? what if the sun turns cold? what if the birds stop singing?' and challenges us to act before it's too late. Freja's unique and powerful blend of soul and blues is at once both melancholy and joyous, offering us a simultaneous glimpse of a paradise both found and lost.
The lush orchestration and soaring symphonic arrangements in 'The Spring' and the haunting lyrics she brings to her songs make it impossible not to be moved by this powerful newcomer. No stranger to a life without boundaries, Freja found enlightenment in the cradle.
She was raised a vegan free spirit by mother visionary Danish futurist and author, psychologist Helen Eriksen and father Gunner Eriksen, a gifted body-mind chef and nutritionist. Brother Hagbard helps with the arrangements, and the whole family contributes to the remarkable vision of a world one might just want to live in.
Freja is well-known on the Danish musical scene, having appeared to rave reviews in the lead role of the Danish production of 'Peter Pan' as a teenager and shows her remarkable virtuosity by studying medicine while sharing her musical gifts with the world. The new musical genre? Let's call it Vision Music. Listen to Freja Eriksen. She might just give you something to.
